Extra! Extra!  Read all about it!  Some new information in the world of couponing!!

  • First, my pal G of NouveauCheap gave me the scoop on SmartSource and RedPlum.  They will be cross-publishing coupons on their respective websites.  From DrugStoreNews.com,

…two of the biggest names in the world of conventional coupon distribution have joined forces on a cross-publishing agreement that would result in the expansion of digital offers on both companies’ websites.

The deal involves Valassis and its RedPlum coupon distribution brand and News America Marketing’s SmartSource coupon distribution brand allowing digital coupons to appear on each others’ sites. It is said to greatly expand the offers available to deal-seeking consumers.

I’m not sure exactly what this will mean for us couponers, but more access to coupons can’t be a bad thing, right?

  • Second, WalMart announced some big changes for the BETTER to their coupon policy.  They will now allow overage on coupons, and either give you change, or let you use the credit towards other items in your order!  How awesome is that?  From WalMartStores.com,

The following are guidelines and limitations:

  • Only one coupon per item is permitted.
  • Coupons must have an expiration date and be redeemed prior to expiration.
  • Coupons may exceed the price of the item. Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.
  • Walmart only accepts coupons for merchandise that we sell.
  • Coupons must be presented at the time of purchase.
  • We accept the following with Customer Service Supervisor/Management approval:
    • 40 or more coupons
    • Any coupon over $20
    • $50 or more in coupons in one transaction

This is EXCELLENT news for those who like to use coupons at WalMart!

Well, there you have it, folks!  What do you think of the changes?  Will WalMart’s policy change make you shop there more?
