I don’t have a fancy badge or anything, but rest assured, I am a Certified Salsa Lover! I like eating salsa on just about anything! I’ve been known to eat it straight out of the jar on more than one occasion. I’ve tried just about every variety at my supermarket, and made my own. Most commercial salsas are just “meh” to me, nothing special really. I was introduced to Salsa Sensations, and of course I was excited to try it out!
Salsa Sensations is a delicious new fresh salsa product, available exclusively at Wal-Mart. You won’t find Salsa Sensations in your regular chip & dip aisle, this product is only in the refrigerated dairy section of your Wal-Mart. (I found it near the shredded cheese) Why is it in the refrigerated section? Because it’s so fresh! And chock-full of delicious fresh ingredients like with sun-ripened tomatoes, chopped onions, garlic, cilantro and jalapeno (habaneros are in the hot!). Some yummy facts about Salsa Sensations:
- Available in three delicious heat levels: hot, medium, and mild
- Contains only 10 calories per 2 tbsp serving
- Fat-free & cholesterol-free product
Right now, you may be muttering to yourself, “Why is this woman going on and on about salsa on a frugal living blog”? As you know, quality salsa can be expensive! But that’s not the case with Salsa Sensations. You get a 16 oz. container for only $1.98! That’s cheaper than the “just OK” commercial jarred salsas! I thought this was a great deal, so I wanted to share with you all!
I picked up the Medium flavor. I was super bummed because my store was out of stock on the mild and hot. The kids like the mild, and I was dying to try to habaneros in the hot variety. Anyhoo, when I got home, I tried the tried-and-true chip & dip taste test.
You’ll see that the salsa is nice and thick, which I like, but not too chunky. It’s also not swimming in tomato juice like a lot of other salsas. Even so, I still ran it through a fine strainer to get most of the juice out. I do that with all my salsa. This one had a really nice spice to it for a medium salsa, which I liked. You could also pick up the lime flavor, which I REALLY liked! One thing I would have changed is adding more cilantro. But then again, I can’t get enough cilantro!
But where this salsa really shined for me was on eggs. I love a quick breakfast of scrambled eggs with salsa and shredded cheese. It’s a quick, filling meal, and really yummy! When I used the Salsa Sensations on my eggs, it tasted even better somehow! I even commented to my husband about it more than once!
Remember, Salsa Sensations is available exclusively at Wal-Mart. You can check their locator to find the Wal-Mart nearest you to buy your salsa! My closest Wal-Mart doesn’t carry it yet, so I had to go to the SuperCenter near my mother-in-law’s house. Guess that means I’ll have a reason to visit her more often! (Haven’t yet decided if that’s a good or a bad thing!)
Since you’ll be shopping at Wal-Mart anyway, wouldn’t it be awesome to shop with a $1,000 Gift Card?? You can enter to win the Salsa Sensations “What’s Your Craving” contest. Your challenge is to create a healthy snack recipe using Salsa Sensations. To enter:
