You may remember my previous post about the Incredible Disappearing Ice Cream. I am not the only one to notice this trend, that’s for sure. One of my favorite personal finance bloggers, J.D. at Get Rich Slowly, has posted an article about this phenomenon, and shared some info regarding food marketing. Definitely check it out!

This marketing ploy was in the NYT a few weeks back, also on NPR. Rather than raise the cost of the product, marketers thought it better to shrink size of product, keep price the same and market new product size as a “healthy choice’, siting American portions are too large and lead to obesity. All I know is my ice cream has shrunk by a third so I now buy two containers costing me more if the manufacturer had simply raised the price on the 1/2 gallon size.

Do you accept guest articles or blog posts? I just like the look how you wrote More Shrinking Groceries | Thrifty Thoughts and Common Cents, I’m in this topic for ages and I would adore to write 2 or 3 material here in the event you agree with me.
