You may remember me telling you all that I was looking into the Angel Food Ministries program. I’m happy to report that I ordered my first box over the weekend. I ordered the main box, of course, as well as the 7 lb. Meat Grilling Box. My order will be ready for me to pick up next weekend.
I am lucky enough to have a host site that has online ordering available. I can select the packages that I want, and pay with a credit card. There is a $1 convenience charge for this option, but I didn’t mind it, as it saved me the trip to the church, which is in an area that I don’t normally get to (it’s not too far away, though)
I haven’t taken the list to the store yet to do a full price comparison, but definitely think I will be coming out ahead on this deal. The frozen crockpot meal alone sells for somewhere around $8 alone.
Check back here, same frugal time, same frugal channel, to view my bounty and read my full report when I pick up the food!

We did Angel Food Ministries a few times and I found that I actually do better getting deals using my coupons and such. We didn’t really care for the taste of the meats, either - chicken was really fatty. Some of the stuff, I just didn’t know how to cook! I think its a great outreach program though and if I didn’t coupon and wanted to save, that would be the way to go!

Thanks for the info! I found that the box I ordered was pretty cheap for what it was, I compared most of the prices at the stores. I just picked it up, so I can’t speak to the quality yet, but I’ll let you know what we think!
